The Light Just Radiates (Short)
Four people in the empty building. Four elements comprising life. Through movement and sound the shamans do their work: wildfires and floods will cleanse the earth so we can start over. A short dance film about rituals and letting go in order to move on. And creating room for the others to make sure we all fit.
Process
Role: composer & studio vocalist
During the compositional process director and writer Arjan Gebrand asked me to collaborate together with him and the dancers to create a track. The track needed to reflect our backgrounds and be a bit mythical, and culminate in a moment where the music was almost too fast to dance to.
I used influences from the tracks sent to me by the dancers for the introduction and was inspired by Jamie XX for the acceleration and ending.
The lyrics were written by the director.
