Sounds of a Silent City

This project started from a desire to listen deeply.

Sounds of a silent City is a sound weekly diary I started during home isolation of Covid-19. I make a weekly field recording from outside my apartment and then write a compositional sketch from that recording.

The importance of field recordings is in that they are documentation of a moment of reality. They are passive, factual, and raw.

The sketches are interpretations. I create them by sculpting, incorporating, analyzing, sampling, processing, and documenting the field recordings. The result is my interpretation of the aural developments of my present reality.
