Laura Nygren

is an American double bassist, singer, electronic musician, and producer, based out of the Netherlands. She enjoys the music of the moment, the performers of the present, and the tunes of today.

A lover of chamber music and orchestral playing Laura has appeared with Sinfonia Rotterdam and Berlin based ensemble s t a r g a z e. She is a founder the new music trio T R O M P O, indie-folk duo Woo Girls, and has her own solo project of bass and songs Show Pony.

Currently Laura is working on an artistic research into using ecological phenomenons as template for new music made possible by Rizoom.

An active collaborator Laura has worked with artists from all genres of music. She has toured with singer Soap & Skin as well as writing with Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) and Simon Tong (The Verve) and appearing on Damon Albarn’s record The Nearer the Fountain the More Pure the Stream Flows.

Laura graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht in 2015, where she was the student of the prolific bassist Quirijn van Regteren Altena. Laura received her Master of Music from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2017.
